Groundbreaking of Biomass Power Plant
(Chofu biomass power plant, Shimonoseki City Yamaguchi Pref.)

Chofu Seisakusho Co., LTD., Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (JAPEX), TOKYO ENERGY & SYSTEMS INC., MOT Research Institute, Ltd. and KAWASAKI KINKAI KISEN KAISHA, LTD. (hereinafter, the "5 Companies") announce that a groundbreaking ceremony for the Chofu Biomass Power Plant (hereinafter, the "Plant") that Chofu Bio Power LLC. (hereinafter, the "CBP") invested by the 5 Companies moves forward with this project as an organizer was held on July 6th, 2022.

Hereafter, foundation construction will proceed, and construction of the Plant's main body will start around April 2023. Additionally, the scheduled start date for the Plant's operation is January 2025.

The Plant's outlet capacity is 74,950 kW, using 100% wood pellet fuel. The construction of this dedicated biomass power plant was decided in September 2021 by the CBP.  Chofu estimates that the annual total amount of electric power sold will be approximately 520 million kWh by utilizing the Feed-in Tariff. Moreover, all of this electric power will be sold to Chugoku Electric Power Transmission & Distribution Co., Inc.



Also, the construction and the organization of the Plant is going to proceed by the CBP as the main body. The 5 companies are going to conduct following affairs depending on each strength, in accordance with requests from the CBP.
･An administration of the Plant's construction
･An operation and a maintenance after the start of Plant's operation
･A procurement and a transit of the wood pellet fuel
Furthermore, the 5 companies are providing cooperations and assists toward the CBP in terms of a relationship-building and maintaining with the administration and a neighborhood toward the CBP.

Chofu, along with each invested company and the CBP, is working to spread eco-friendly electricity generated from renewable energy to contribute to the development of the local economy with the understanding and support of everyone in the Shimonoseki region.
